Epistemologies of Resistance
The Politics of Epistemology in the Social Sciences
My dissertation is part of a DOC-team project about “Criticizing Science by Politicizing Epistemology and the Body”. In my project, I discuss diff erent conceptions of “situated knowledge” and their linkage to social struggles, which I also understand as knowledge struggles. I argue that some of the most vital epistemological and methodological challenges to the social sciences have been posed from feminist and postcolonial positions. I analyze how their conceptions of the relation between epistemology and social theory may inform critical social sciences and alternative knowledge productions.
