Exploring the Temporal and Spatial Scales of Ethnography Across Disciplines: Implications for Concepts and Methods
The proposal is to explore the possibilities for conversations among scholars working at different temporal and spatial scales, be they historians, anthropologists, geographers or political theorists. The assumption is that the different tradition of each discipline has its own path dependency, while the current global reality has thrown into question established assumptions. First: How has each discipline met this challenge? Second: How do their varying responses provide opportunities for cross-fertilization in terms of concepts and methods?
The task envisaged, is to begin the groundwork for fruitful conversations.
