Project:
Protecting the Vital: Biosafety and the Commodification of Genetically-Engineered Cotton Seeds in Colombia
My dissertation analyzes the relations between biosafety and the commodification of genetically-engineered (GE) cotton seeds in Colombia by comparing national and international discussions on GE seeds’ risks. It then examines how GE seeds’ safety is constructed in the national biosafety framework, and how the technologization and governance of these risks becomes part of the production of the GE seeds as commodities.
