	Elusive Transformations	Wed, 14.06.2023	Seminars and Colloquia	Mieke Verloo Toni Haastrup	Elusive Transformations Wed, 14.06.2023 Speakers: Mieke Verloo Toni Haastrup Series: Seminars and Colloquia Toni Haastrup critically scrutinized the EU’s claims to feminist actorship by introducing the analytical concept of “Feminist Power Europe.” In employing FPE as a lens, she examined whether the EU can adopt an FFP and if such an approach upholds the transformative potential of feminism. She demonstrated that the EU’s propensity for a transformative feminist foreign policy is limited by the setup of global politics, which continues to be situated in a traditionally masculine environment with prevailing hierarchies as a result of colonialism and racism. Central to her research is a transdisciplinary background in neuroscience and gender studies. While in neuroscience gender is a hard variable, in gender studies it is a social phenomenon, a result and a facet of human action and social structures––in short: a social construct. Kaiser Trujillo’s aim is to bridge the divide between these two epistemologically different approaches. Read more

This lecture argues that to transform the social organization of care we need to rethink care from a multiple inequality perspective that links the needs and rights of those providing and receiving care.
