The Polish émigré journal Aneks was not only an annex to publishing in Poland but also to Kultura. Any contextualization of Aneks in the world of émigré publishing must consider the legacy of Jerzy Giedroyc. What both Giedroyc and the editors of Aneks engaged in was something more than a career. Deeper inquiry into why the world of émigré polish intellectuals existed and what it wrought revolves around the intersection of the personal and political. The European community benefits from the legacy of their life and work.
