Meeting of Patočka Scholars, Editors, and Translators

Conferences and Workshops

The workshop brought together researchers, editors, translators, and scholars who are working on the writings of philosopher Jan Patočka. Since the early 1980’s the IWM holds an archive of his writings. Patočka was a co-initiator and first spokesperson of the civil rights movement Charter 77. The IWM Archive was the first systematic and official collection of his writings before the establishment of the Patočka Archives in Prague after 1989. The meeting invited for an exchange of ideas and discussions on research projects, translations, editions, and possible cooperations. What are the interesting projects for future research? Which translations are planned? Which specific problems do translators and editors face? After a break of four years, the meeting once again brought together scholars for an exchange on current initiatives and new projects.
