Polski teatr Zagłady by Grzegorz Niziołek is not only the first book on how the Holocaust was reflected (or rather, in a symptomatic way, omitted) in the Polish theater. It is also about the (obscene) theatricality Shoah meant for those who were not victims. Thus the book has additional meaning for those societies which still have not explored the traumas connected with the totalitarian past when the majority of the population witnessed the persecution of their fellow citizens, becoming the silent collaborators of the perpetrators.
