Wikipedia names Marc Chagall a “Russian-French artist”, so do the biggest museums around the world. As a matter of fact, Chagall was born on the territory of today’s Belarus. He created an art school in Vitebsk and organized massive “futuristic” art-carnivals in this city in 1918 on major Soviet holidays. Still this Vitebsk period of Chagall’s life is unexplored. I plan to create a narration of his years in Vitebsk, together with a story of his abruption in BSSR.
