From 22 May to 1 June, Hay Festival Hay-on-Wye 2025 will take place in Wales. The IWM will be represented at different events.

On the Global Stage panel co-organized by the IWM with the title Europe After Trump, on Saturday, 24 May at 19:00 BST, historian Anne Applebaum, communication expert Alistair Campbell, and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama will discuss with IWM Rector Misha Glenny what the return of Donald Trump to the U.S. presidency means for Europe. The event will also be available online.

Our rector will also be hosting two other events:

On Friday, 23 May, at 19:00 BST, Misha Glenny will be talking to German-Austrian writer Daniel Kehlmann about his newest novel, The Director (Summit, 2025), which fictionalizes the life of Austrian director G.W. Pabst and his art production under Nazism.

On Saturday, 24 May at 10:00 BST, Rector Glenny will join Mike Berners-Lee, professor in the Institute for Social Futures at Lancaster University, and Martin Chilton, The Independent's Chief Book Critic, in reviewing the news, discussing the headlines and issues of the day, and revealing what’s breaking and trending online.
