"Dialogues for Tomorrow" - Recording Now Available

On 15 March, this year's first event in the Dialogues for Tomorrow series took place at the AIL – Angewandte Interdisciplinary Lab.

The debate series critically examines the present from multiple perspectives in order to create a better understanding of tomorrow. For the first conversation, Philipp Blom spoke with Nina Khrushcheva, Professor of International Affairs at The New School in New York, about Russia – a society in meltdown – and its future in light of its historical and political path, as well as international security.

The recording is now available on our YouTube channel:

On 10 May, Philip Blom will be in conversation with Europe's Futures Fellow Nathalie Tocci. Further information will be available soon.

About the discussion series Dialogues for Tomorrow:

Beginning in the fall of 2022, Gerald Bast, Rector of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, invited artists and experts to the new Café Exchange. The interdisciplinary conversations covered topics from across art, science, culture, technology, and politics while granting audiences an opportunity to join the discussion.

The program has since been broadened continually. In spring 2023, together with the Bruno Kreisky Forum and the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), the University of Applied Arts hosts experts from different disciplines to discuss future challenges, ranging from climate change to democracies in crisis, current wars, and social controversies. The events are hosted by the historian, journalist, and author Philipp Blom, who will speak with renowned international guests about societal transformations, new conceptual spaces, and necessary change.
