Antisemitic research on Jewish history and culture (“Judenforschung”) established itself in the Nazi state as a transdiciplinary but distinct scholarly field. This project will examine anti-Jewish scholarship in the Third Reich, its institutions and actors, as well as its goals, themes, and methods in a concentrated and exhaustive manner. It will also analyze its function and practices within the coordinates of scholarship, propaganda, ideology and politics, and consider both, the beginning of “Judenforschung” as well as its repercussions and reception after 1945.
