This project seeks to analyze the premises, aims, methods, and results of the Nazis’ differentiated policy towards Soviet prisoners of war from different ethnic minorities in occupied Ukraine during 1941-1944. I‘ll try to show how the Germans sought to intensify ethnic conflict within the community of prisoners in the German camps, made up of former soldiers of the multinational Red Army, and thus created the conditions necessary for the liquidation of “undesirable elements.”
