Conflict studies have become particularly urgent for Ukraine. The recent Revolution on the Maidan, the annexation of the Crimean peninsula, the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), and the military conflicts in the East have all shaken the country. Yet the Ukrainian situation is not unique. It only reflects similar events that the world is experiencing elsewhere in Eurasia and in the Middle East. Religion and its influence on society as well as the influences it absorbs from society play a key role in the construction of new social realities in Ukraine. My project seeks to analyze the conflicts in Ukraine from the perspective of religion, focusing particularly on faith-based diplomacy and dialogue.
