Christoph Badelt's field of research is the nonprofit sector, especially economic theories of the nonprofit sector and its role in the welfare state. He is also concerned with family policy and care for the elderly. He published Kosten der Pflegeversicherung, Vienna (1995) and Familien zwischen Gerechtigkeitsidealen und Benachteiligungen, Vienna (1994).
