The Game of Women and War is a research-driven, multimedia project focused on documenting the diverse wartime experiences of Ukrainian women. Through interviews, archival research, and collaboration with experts, the project gathers testimonies that will form the basis for a feature-length performative documentary film, a documentary play and other artistic formats. By bridging personal stories and public narratives, the project explores how women’s voices can shape collective memory and foster cultural dialogue between Ukraine and the European Union. As Europe faces new waves of conflict, polarization, and migration, The Game of Women and War invites viewers to ask what it means to be a witness. This research and documentation of Ukrainian women’s experiences, carried out with the support of the Documenting Ukraine program, aims to identify and highlight themes that are deeply relevant not only to Ukrainian society, but also to the wider European community.
