The IWM congratulates current Europe's Futures Fellow Amanda Coakley for being shortlisted for a "Foreign Coverage" NewsBrands Ireland reporting award.

This foreign coverage category is for news or feature articles about events, people or developments abroad that appeared in an Irish publication. Amanda has been shortlisted for two pieces she wrote for The Irish Times. The first she filed from Stepanakert, on Armenians and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The second article from Fada N’Gourma on Burkina Faso and how civilians were given authority to take law into their own hands to stop spread of militant violence. You can read both of her shortlisted pieces here (in PDF).

Prior to her current Europe's Futures Fellowship, Amanda was a Milena Jesenská Visiting Fellow at the IWM. For more information on her projects, more information is available on her fellow's page on our website

We wish Amanda the best of luck.
