The central foci of the project are the interethnic relations in Transcarpathia, where no anti-Jewish violence was officially registered before the Holocaust. Subsequently, in 1944, the local Ukrainian population’s dominant position transferred resentment toward Jews, resulting in antisemitic actions. For survivors, attempts to reclaim lost property were usually met with denial, if not outright hostility. The aim is to explore different social dynamics and interactions. The methodological framework is based on utilizing the broader paradigm of Alltagsgeschichte and social history methods.
