On the Edge is a documentary project set in Kostiantynivka, a frontline town in eastern Ukraine. Through the story of Olha—an elderly woman who refuses to evacuate due to her age, home, and livestock—the film portrays how war slowly infiltrates everyday life. Her routine grows increasingly dangerous: to graze her goats she must cross newly built defensive lines, while Russian drones scan the area above her.
The second layer of the project documents the city itself—soldiers holding the perimeter, rescue workers responding to strikes, volunteers and medics supporting civilians. By combining a broad visual chronicle of war with an intimate portrait of one protagonist, the film reveals what life truly feels like on the threshold of occupation.
The project aims to preserve an honest, empathetic record of the civilian experience in Donbas at a decisive moment in its history.
