This project documents the transformation of Odesa through two interconnected photographic archives spanning two decades and two generations. The first archive, created between 2003-2014, explores the pre-war city through the eyes of a teenager discovering photography. The second archive, begun in winter 2023, captures wartime Odesa through the lens of a returning refugee father, urgently documenting architecture under threat of destruction. Together, these archives form a unique family narrative that reflects broader themes of Ukrainian resilience, cultural preservation, and the profound impact of war on urban landscapes and personal memory. The project aims to create a comprehensive visual documentation that bridges generational perspectives on the same city during radically different historical moments.
