Teaching under Fire: Ukrainian University Lectures between the Frontlines and Education

The project is an attempt to overcome the schematic notion of war as something that concerns only the frontline—and to show that the educational space is also a battlefield for the senses and future intellectual potential.

This project aims to document the experiences of Ukrainian university teachers who continue to teach amid a full-scale war. Through a series of semi-structured interviews with teachers from different regions, Yuliya Krylova-Grek plans to document how the war has changed the educational process, documenting how teachers’ psycho-emotional state influences their interaction with students and professional activity. The geography of the interviews covers teachers from the frontline regions, central Ukraine, and more remote parts of the country in the west that are not yet under regular bombardment.
