Using stop-motion 2D collage, Yuliia Appen will create four animated episodes for the documentary film A Home for Rita (the story of a Roma woman and her extended family, internally displaced persons in the Zaporizhzhia region) in cooperation with Maria Pronina. In the first stage, Appen and Pronina will develop the script for the episodes and make collage sketches. Afterwards, Pronina will develop sketches and prepare a storyboard. Finally, Appen will shoot the collages using 2D stop motion and edit them into the final cut of the film. They may also collaborate with sound editor Nika Zenova to create sound design for the animated episodes. The film will be released in 2026 and will be distributed via both festival channels and special screenings in art spaces and community centers.
