The Invisible Battalion – 10 Years of Struggle for Gender Equality in Ukraine’s Armed Forces

This book is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the project The Invisible Battalion, which began in 2015 with a sociological study on the situation of women in war and evolved into an advocacy campaign for the visibility of women in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Over the past decade, a diverse group of researchers, activists, military personnel, media professionals, journalists, and communication specialists has collaborated on the project, which has already become an integral part of Ukrainian history.

Tamara Martsenyuk, who is herself a researcher on the project, will conduct approximately 15-20 narrative interviews with individuals who have been and are involved in The Invisible Battalion in order to discuss their contributions to the integration of women into the security and defense sector. By ensuring gender equality in the Ukrainian armed forces, the project has made significant changes in society. Now is the time to make those who created the project visible.
