Ukrainian director Oleh Sentsov joined the Ukrainian Army at the beginning of the war. Now he is a lieutenant, fighting on the south-eastern front. This summer he sent the material he shot during one of the fights when his armored personnel carrier was destroyed. He appeared in the nearest trenches and tried to organize via radio the evacuation of part of his unit that was under attack, ran out of ammunition, and remained in position with the callsign Real. Oleh switched the camera on and shot 75 minutes of immersive experience––how the war looks like from the point of view of a combatant.
Hence the film’s name is REAL.
