The project involves commissioning articles from scientists that will form the basis of a new edition of a book about Kyiv’s green areas during wartime.
Drawing upon the first edition of a book published in 1915, which documents Kyiv’s natural environment during the First World War, Nina Dyrenko plans to invite prominent contemporary scientists (botanists, zoologists, mycologists, and others) to create new descriptions of the places that their colleagues wrote about 110 years ago (in 2026, this figure will be especially beautiful—111 years).
As part of the project, public tours to the locations featured in the book will be organized, guided by scientists. These tours will be open and accessible to anyone with an interest in the topic, and will be documented in photographs that will appear in the planned book.
