Ukrainian Scientists at War

The Ukrainian Scientists at War project uses research, creative storytelling, and public memory activities to commemorate Ukrainian scientists who have lost their lives and preserve the losses of Ukrainian science during the Russo-Ukrainian War. As part of the project, Khrystyna Semeryn is writing a series of creative non-fiction stories about the lives of the fallen that are grounded in fieldwork, interviews with their families and colleagues, and thorough research. The project, whose core activities also include maintaining a list of the names of the fallen scientists and a database, has been developed jointly with Ukrainian neurobiologist Dr. Oleksiy Boldyriev and the My.science.ua media platform. Public lectures, research into cultural memory, and academic activities such as writing scholarly articles and commemoration during scientific conferences are also carried out under the aegis of Ukrainian Scientists at War
