Chad lives in the heart of Lviv, where church bells now mingle with air-raid sirens. Known as the city’s unofficial night mayor, Chad fuels Lviv’s nightlife and underground scene, even during war. Through raves, bars, and art, he creates spaces where young people can breathe, dance, and celebrate life amid darkness.
This documentary film follows Chad as he prepares for Zorepad, his most ambitious rave yet, an outdoor festival in the Carpathian forest meant to unite people under the stars. Chad dreams of making Ukraine the electronic music capital of Eastern Europe. But he is stateless. After renouncing his Greek citizenship for Ukraine, a country he considers home, he was left with only a document describing him as a “person in need of protection.” Without a passport, he is trapped, unable to leave or return.
As Zorepad approaches, emotions run high. Night Mayor tells the story of a stateless man who gives everything for a country he loves, a creator who becomes the rhythm and voice of the home he has chosen.
