Uman: At the Crossroads of War

Working as a teacher at the Faculty of History and being a member of a public organization, I began to the best of my ability the process of collecting testimonies of Ukrainians about the war. However, due to the large number of respondents, I understand that I have to properly collect and represent these testimonies. The method of interviewing and analysis of narratives is constantly being improved, the forms of public representations of oral historical materials, in particular video materials that convey a wide range of human emotions, are being diversified. To this end, the support of Documenting Ukraine will be directed to technical equipment for audio and video recording of testimonies that would convey all the particular richness of oral history. The recorded testimonies are planned to be transcribed and posted for storing in a special online archive on a special site. Appropriate technical support is therefore required to preserve a significant array of oral historical testimonies. Our plan is to involve fellow historians who have appropriate skills in collecting oral historical evidence. The collected audio and video materials will become the basis for the study of the impact of rashism in Ukraine.
