Project:
Analysis of Construction of Dis/Continuity Between the Pre- and Post-1989 Regimes in Czechoslovakia Through Czech Literature
I research cultural memory of the late normalization era and the 1989 transformation in post-communist Czechoslovakia and Czech Republic through the synthesis of two fields: cultural sociology and sociology of literature. By means of sociological and phenomenological readings of selected novels by Jáchym Topol, Michal Viewegh, and Radka Denemarková, I disrupt the “evil–good” dichotomy of vulgar post-communism, which still conquers in the so-called “dispute over the interpretation of Czech history”.
