Partners & Donors

IWM_Haus_TreppeFor more than 35 years, the IWM has attracted distinguished scholars and opinion leaders, thus building an international network of renowned personalities and creating an intellectual center in Vienna.

Founded in 1982 as a private non-profit association, the Institute has remained legally, politically and ideologically independent since then. It receives its core funding from the Austrian Government (Ministry for Science, Research and Economy), the City of Vienna (Cultural Affairs and Science), the Polish Government (Ministry of Science and Higher Education) as well as the Czech Government (Ministries of Foreign Affairs). In addition, its programs and activities are financed by international foundations and other research funding institutions as well as through private donation (Further details: Donations Acceptance Policy and Procedures at IWM).

Become an IWM Friend!

We are convinced that critical discussion and reflection involving scholars, political decision-makers, and society at large are needed to find solutions for the pressing issues of our time. If you share this belief, we cordially invite you to support us with your donation. Your donation will help us to co-finance public lectures and fellowships for young academics, or to invest in the library and other facilities provided by the Institute.
