The adventurous journey of the tomato – from cultivation to consumption – is the topic of Annemieke Hendriks investigative non-fiction book about business with fresh vegetables in Europe. The tomato is used as a metaphor for these food streams. Focusing on various decision makers in the life of the tomato the story predominantly takes place in the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, Germany and Hungary and to some extent also in Poland, Turkey, Austria, Greece and England.
