Invisible Empire: Layers of Memory in Post-Habsburg Europe
Th e contemporary cities of Krákow, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and others share a history as
ethnically diverse centers of the region of the Habsburg Empire known as Galicia. Th is project aims to expose the palimpsest of historical experience in these places, where traces of a very diff erent past are hidden in plain sight, even as they have been superseded by newer sensibilities of city and nation.
