The Decade of Gierek: The Social Origin of the Solidarity Revolution
In Vienna I am going to write a book which will be a story about the Polish version of “goulash socialism” trying to answer the old question why people rebel. On “Polish ground” I want to examine the role of relative deprivation, the revolutionary tradition, structural and cultural factors, the “John Paul II effect” and other factors, which could explain the outbreak of the Revolution Solidarity.
