Where Do We Stay? The Role of Journalists in Post-socialist Countries
Journalistic freedom is the barometer of the freedom of the media. The free media has relevant democratic functions: it mirrors the multicolored opinions of a society and helps to maintain the democratic order. In post-socialist countries politicians still try to achieve control over the media and with it over the public sphere itself. What role do journalists play in this environment? What are the consequences for societies affected, and for the profession itself?
