Disillusionment With Social Media: The Case of Turkey’s Political Activists
My project examines the changing attitudes and expectations of political activists in Turkey towards the use of social media between the Gezi Protests of summer 2013 and the general election in June 2015. Many activists I have interviewed as a journalist have been reporting a certain disappointment with social media and are re-adjusting their expectations of its uses and effectiveness. My aim is to produce a series of articles to act as the foundation of a future book on the subject.
