Micro-Credits: Saving the Poor or Pushing them Further into Debt?
The controversial business of micro-credits divides the political elite and academics. Is it a solution to eradicate poverty or just another financial scheme profiting from those who lack the economic choice? In some Asian countries borrowers have commited suicide when unable to repay the loan. This project examines the social and economic consequences for micro-credit borrowers in three Balkan countries: Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; and Romania.
