What does climate change have to do with social justice? Who were the victims of Hitler and Stalin in the Eastern European “bloodlands”? Why is the voter turnout in the US lower than in Europe? What are the master narratives of secularity in modernity? – all these are topics of the lectures at the IWM. All of them have one goal in common: they seek to convey current findings in the humanities and social sciences to a broader public. Apart from individual lectures on topics related to one of the Institute's research focuses, there are lecture series that explore a set of issues over a longer period.

Vorträge

Was der Klimawandel mit Gerechtigkeit zu tun hat, wer die Opfer Hitlers und Stalins in den osteuropäischen „Bloodlands“ waren, warum die Wahlbeteiligung in den USA geringer ist als in Europa, welche Narrative der Säkularisierung es in der Moderne gibt – das sind nur einige der Themen der Vorträge am IWM. Ihnen allen gemeinsam ist, dass sie aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse der Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften an eine breite Öffentlichkeit vermitteln wollen. Neben den einzelnen Vorträgen, die sich auf einen der Schwerpunkte des Instituts beziehen, veranstaltet das IWM auch Vortragsreihen, die sich spezifischen Themen über einen längeren Zeitraum widmen.
