Junior Visiting Fellowships of six or ten months are granted by the IWM to Ph.D. candidates and young post-doctoral researchers. The Institute collaborates with Boston University, which organizes an annual open call for fellowship applications, and with the European Forum at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which awards fellowships to its graduate students. In addition, each year several Ph.D. candidates and post-doctoral researchers who have been selected for the DOC, the DOC-Team and APART programs of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) are offered research residences at the IWM. Periodically, the IWM also accepts applicants working on topics related to its research fields as Junior Visiting Fellows.

Die Junior Visiting Fellowships richten sich an Doktorand/innen und Postdocs ausgewählter Universitäten. Junior Visiting Fellows erhalten die Möglichkeit, sechs oder zehn Monate am IWM zu forschen. Kooperationen bestehen mit der Boston University, die alljährlich Stipendien am IWM ausschreibt, sowie mit dem European Forum der Hebrew University in Jerusalem, die Stipendien an graduierte Studierende vergibt. Darüber hinaus lädt das Institut jedes Jahr einige Stipendiat/innen aus den DOC, DOC-Team und APART Programmen der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (ÖAW) zu einem Forschungsaufenthalt ein. Ebenso werden Bewerber/innen, die zu den Forschungsschwerpunkten des Instituts arbeiten, als Junior Visiting Fellows aufgenommen.
