Klaus Nellen studied philosophy, German literature, mathematics and linguistics at the Ludwig Maximilians-Universität Munich and the Albertus Magnus-Universität Cologne. 1974 Philologisches Staatsexamen in philosophy and German literature. In 1975 he joined the Husserl Archive at Cologne University where he worked as a Research Associate from 1977-1981. 1982 he moved to Vienna to help set up the Institute for Human Sciences where he has worked as a Permanent Fellow since 1985. Since 1983 he is in charge of the Institute's scientific publications including, since 1990, its journal, Transit - Europäische Revue. Since 1984 he has taken care of IWM's Patocka Archive and research; co-editor of Jan Patocka, Ausgewählte Schriften (5 vols., 1987-1992). Since 1994 coordinator of the Paul Celan-Translation Program and member of the Jury. 1998 co-founder of Eurozine - the netmagazine, a network of European cultural journals in the internet; member of the Board, Eurozine Association.
