Historical Mystery, a rapidly developing genre in Ukrainian popular fiction since the 2010s, is based on Western patterns and partly national traditions, with its exponents including Bohdan Kolomiychuk, Andriy Kokotyukha, Vasyl Dobryansky, Vladislav Ivchenko and Olga Salipa, to name a few. The research is aimed at an analysis of gender discourse and geopoetics in a series of exemplary novels of this genre, with a focus on male and female images, gender power, symbolic interaction between empires and colony, cityscapes and urban myths, as projected on present time.
