Economic, Legal and Philosophical Dimensions of Parental Leave in the European Union
The interdisciplinary joint research project deals with different models of parental leave in the European Union taking into account their impact on employment and family work. The philosophical and the economic perspective are both centered around the idea that the differentiation of the concept of work into the two elements “employment” and “family work” and the connected visualization of both forms of work are constitutive elements of the (un)equal division of labor between women and men. In this presentation the focus lies on the analysis of various designs of parental leave from a legal perspective along the two conflicting lines.
