Open Self-Government and Participatory Democracy

Politics on the level of cities are closer to the individual, and one can expect citizens to be more engaged than with general politics. Still, across Europe there is a growing distrust in politicians, and political fatigue. The Mayor of Bratislava will discuss strategies for better citizen’s involvement, for the benefit of the inhabitants of European capitals. Plans for the development of the economic and cultural relations between the two partner cities Bratislava and Vienna will be put forward for discussion as well.

The IWM Discussion series „City Talks“ invites Mayors of European and American cities to Vienna and asks them to share their vision for the livable city of the 21st century.
