East and West European Far Right Parties and the Conflict between Russia and Ukraine

During recent months, far right groups and individual actors of Russia, Ukraine and the EU have become prominent actors in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The speakers will discuss the relative importance of ultranationalist ideas and actors in the domestic and international politics in Russia and Ukraine before, during and after the Ukrainian revolution, as well as providing a bigger picture for this discussion.

Andreas Umland is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation in Kiev and editor of the book series Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics and Society’ Book Series. His latest article Der Kreml will die Ukraine scheitern sehen was published on Transit online.

Anton Shekhovtsov is a Visiting Fellow at the IWM as well as a European Fellow of the Radicalism and New Media Research Group at the University of Northampton, UK. He is also editor of the Explorations of the Far Right book series at ibidem-Verlag.
